What We Did On Our Summer Vacation 2025 - Part 3

Our journey through the amazing summer adventures of the NCB family rolls on! For Part 3, we're excited to share a fresh collection of our favorite vacation memories and photos. Our members are eager to share their experiences from every corner of the world – or simply from their own backyard!

NCB member Ryan Sedgwick (horn) and his husband Mat embarked on a fantastic two-week journey through Southern Germany. Their bases were the vibrant city of Munich and the picturesque town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a place particularly close to Ryan’s heart as it was home to Richard Strauss and the inspiration for his Alpine Symphony. They filled their days with visits to fascinating historical sites, exhilarating hikes in the Bavarian Alps, and, of course, indulged in classic pretzels and beer. A highlight was a detour to Austria, where they explored the remote Lech River valley and reconnected with Mat's relatives. Ryan’s only regret was that he avoided checked luggage, which meant his Alphorn had to stay home.

In Parts 1 and 2 of this series, we shared two of NCB member Dan DiCesare (trombone) musical summer adventures! We’d be remiss if we left him out of Part 3! Dan is a regular member of the 17-piece big band Heisenberg Uncertainty Players, led by John Dorhauer.  They're currently in residence at the Fulton Street Collective, where you can catch them performing every third Tuesday through September. Their June show was particularly special, featuring the world premiere of John's incredible arrangement of Paul McCartney's complete album, "Venus and Mars."
