What We Did On Our Summer Vacation 2023 - Part 2

NCB members Jennifer (flute) and Bruce (euphonium) Nelson kicked off their summer with a long weekend trip to Durango, CO to see the trains and the mountains. Other summer adventures included a trip to Milwaukee, WI complete with fireworks on the lakefront, and a trip to Champaign, IL to visit family and attend their great niece's ISYM symphonic band concert. Also playing in this concert was one of Jennifer’s students. While in Champaign, Jennifer and Bruce saw former NCB euphonium player Mike Vecchio who was conducting one of the bands.
Lauren Whisnant (horn) had a great summer! She played a concert with some of her recently-graduated students at Elmhurst University! She attended the Ohio State University String Teachers Workshop, where she learned a ton & worked on her cello chops. Finally, Lauren headed to North Carolina to work on her kayak skills! She finally got to go down the Nanatahala River (her first class III rapid!)!
