What We Did On Our Summer Vacation

With summer drawing to a close we thought it might be fun to share some "What I Did on My Summer Vacation" photos from NCB members.

During her Summer Vacation, NCB member Katie McCarthy (horn) and her husband welcomed their daughter Olie to the world! Katie says that "she is a total ham and she currently is smiling, babbling, and loooves people's faces. She's the best!" Congratulations Katie and Benjamin and welcome Olie!!

What did NCB member Joe Schorer (trombone) do during his Summer Vacation? He created and submitted a video for a competition at his law firm (Kirkland & Ellis) called "Kirkland Has Talent"! You can watch Joe’s video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCoUT3e9VuY

NCB member Julianne Arvidson (flute) traveled to Hawaii where she visited Waimea Falls at the beautiful Botanical Gardens and snorkeled at Hanauma Bay!

Last March, NCB member Jennifer Nelson (flute) made a video in which she lamented her canceled trip to Ireland with a tongue-in-cheek slideshow of a spoof of Irish Tune from County Derry. Well Jennifer and her husband, NCB member Bruce (euphonium), finally made it to Ireland last week and she was able to purchase the Irish whistle she has been wanting to get for a long time. In the photo she is playing it in front of the music shop where she bought it in Killarney.

NCB member Nancy Swanson (oboe) and her husband Paul traveled to South Dakota and Colorado on their summer vacation.

NCB member Jennifer Young (french horn) spent her summer vacation riding around the Northshore on her new bike with Penny, her pandemic puppy!

And finally, the Northshore Concert Band trombone section, led by Northshore Concert Band's assistant conductor Dan Farris, performed the Star-Spangled Banner in a video that has been sent to professional Chicago sports teams as an audition to play the national anthem at a home game. We’re waiting to see what they say!
