Overview

Liberty, peace, justice, integrity, and hope — these timeless hallmarks of the American Dream inspire the final program of Northshore Concert Band’s platinum anniversary season. The concert begins with Let Freedom Ring, a reverent ode to liberty featuring valiant brass and shimmering percussion that embody the resolve of the American people. Kevin Day’s A Hymn for Peace offers a quiet moment of repose, looking toward healing and resolution in the wake of personal and collective struggle. “Integrity First,” from Julie Giroux’s No Finer Calling, draws on the ideals at the heart of the United States Air Force in a bold fanfare, processional, and march. The season concludes with two works grounded in the resilience of Americans during the Great Depression. George Washington Bridge channels the energy of 1930s New York City, its soaring structure a symbol of innovation, hope, and opportunity. Edwin Franko Goldman’s Cheerio March rounds out the concert and 70th-season celebration with a rousing finale — a reminder of the joy and optimism music can offer during hard times, then and now.
