The 21st Annual Lifetime of Music

On February 16, 2025, forty-two Chicago-area student musicians will perform with the Northshore Concert Band as part of our annual Lifetime of Music program. This celebrated event, now in its 21st year, not only allows the students to play side by side with members of a world-acclaimed music ensemble on stage at the Pick-Staiger Concert Hall on the Northwestern University campus in Evanston, Illinois, but it also provides them with a lasting memory!

This concert is a central element of our educational outreach, encouraging young people to experience the joy and value of performing music long after their formal education. Like members of the Northshore Concert Band, these young guests will become “Musicians for a Lifetime.”

Northshore Concert Band’s annual Lifetime of Music Initiative program provides rewarding musical experiences to young musicians. It grants them access to a unique performance opportunity outside of the classroom, introducing students to outstanding wind band repertoire, and showing them what kinds of musical opportunities exist in adulthood regardless of the vocation they choose. The Band salutes these exceptional middle school musicians for their participation in this special concert and dedication to music making, as well as their parents and families for their support and commitment to music education.

Participating student musicians are nominated by their band directors and music teachers. This year we will welcome 42 students representing 29 communities in Illinois.
