Our 69th Season includes 14 works that will receive their first NCB performance

Our 2024/25 Season features a significant number of inaugural performances by the Band. Fourteen works will receive their Northshore Concert Band premiere during our 69th season.

Our season opened on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall in Evanston, Illinois with Resilience. Two works in this program received their first NCB performance; Gala Flagello’s Bravado and Omar Thomas’ A Mother of a Revolution!

On February 16, 2025, our 69th season resumes at the Pick-Staiger Concert Hall for Tributes & Innovations. Works that will receive their NCB first performance include Giovanni Gabrieli’s Canzon Primi Toni à 8, Kathryn Salfelder’s Cathedrals, John Powell’s How to Train Your Dragon, Dwayne Milburn’s Meditation, and the world premiere of Jay Kennedy’s Let Your Light Shine, a work commissioned by NCB that pays tribute to Mallory Thompson’s inspiring musical leadership of the Northshore Concert Band.

Paul Dooley’s triptych Canticles, Joe Hisaishi’s vibrant score to Spirited Away, and Chamak, a new work by Indian American composer Reena Esmail receive their first NCB performance on April 13, 2025, during our spring subscriptions series concert Spirited Away.

On June 7, 2025, we soar into summer with Irrational Joy. Steven Bryant’s title work is an exhilarating ode to boundless happiness and Jun Nagao’s exuberant The Earth weaves fragmented themes from some of Gustav Holst’s most beloved works. Arturo Márquez’s Danzón No. 2, is a musical postcard encapsulating the essence of sophisticated Cuban and Mexican ballroom dance and Paul Lavender’s sweeping and invigorating arrangement of John William’s “Adventures on Earth” from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial brings our 69th season to a rousing conclusion. All of these works will receive their first NCB performance.
