Our 67th Season includes 10 works that will receive their first NCB performance

Our 2022/23 Season is the Band’s most diverse to date, with each concert highlighting the works of underrepresented communities, cultures, and perspectives in classical music. Ten works will receive their first NCB performance.

Our season opened on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall in Evanston, Illinois with Variations on America. The three works in this program that received their first NCB performance were Carlos Simon’s Sweet Chariot, Kevin Day’s Requiem for the Unarmed, and Ulysses Kay’s Solemn Prelude.

On February 19, 2023, we return to the Pick-Staiger Concert Hall for our celebrated Lifetime of Music concert. Outstanding middle school musicians from the Chicagoland area will join the Northshore Concert Band onstage for this unique performance. Works that will receive their first NCB performance in this program include Illinois native Kimberly Archer’s Fanfare Politeia and Katahj Copley’s Halcyon Hearts.

Jennifer Higdon’s Mysterium receives its first NCB performance on April 16, 2023, during Festive Beginning. This program marks the Band’s subscription debut at the Leemputte Family Theater in Wilmette, Illinois.

On June 4, 2023, we conclude our 67th season with American Celebration. This program will combine all things American, from baseball to Broadway and everything in between, and feature Carolyn Bremer’s Early Light, Benjamin Horne’s Deep River, David Maslanka’s Traveler, and John Philip Sousa’s salute to the lovely ladies of the Windy City, The Belle of Chicago, all of which will receive their first NCB performance.
