JACK KARTSOTIS

Jack Kartsotis plays the clarinet and is a Clarinet Teacher.

What do you enjoy most about playing?
Collaborating with other musicians and getting to share my love of music with an audience.

Do you have a favorite musical memory?
My favorite musical memory was in 2018 when I went to Vienna, Austria for a summer music festival. While there, I attended lots of operas, orchestra concerts, and chamber music performances. My favorite by far was a performance of the Mozart Clarinet Concerto in the Musikverein by the Vienna Philharmonic.

Who was your most influential music teacher?
My most influential teachers were a high school band director that encouraged me to pursue music, and the incredible clarinet faculty at the University of North Texas.

Does anyone in your family play music?
I am the only one in my family that does music!

What’s on your iPod?

Brahms, Beethoven, Shostakovich, Strauss, Vivaldi, Bach, Couperin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Iiro Rantala, Chet Baker, Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Renato Carosone, Philip Glass, Mac Miller, Anderson Paak, Metronomy, and everything from the 1970's.
